How Nobl9 works
Grafana Loki is an open-source log aggregation tool designed for cost-effective and scalable log storage and querying. Unlike traditional logging systems, Loki indexes metadata about logs, such as labels (similar to how Prometheus handles metrics), rather than the log content itself. This keeps storage and operational costs low while enabling fast querying and retrieval of logs.
Loki excels in environments where Kubernetes and microservices are prevalent, allowing users to query logs in a manner that's closely integrated with Prometheus metrics. By keeping a minimal index, it enables rapid searching through logs without high storage costs. It also compresses logs and stores them in object storage systems like AWS S3 or Google Cloud Storage, making it highly scalable.
Nobl9 leverages Loki's logs to create actionable Service Level Objectives (SLOs). While Loki excels at efficiently aggregating logs, Nobl9 takes these logs and transforms them into business-critical SLOs, ensuring teams are focused on maintaining reliability. By integrating Loki with Nobl9’s advanced reporting and dashboards, teams can easily track log-derived performance metrics, ensure service health, and prioritize user-impacting events.
